Ottawa ECA's Educational Programs

The Ottawa ECA is committed to delivering industry-leading education and professional development opportunities designed specifically for the electrical construction sector. Through a combination of in-person instruction, online learning, safety certification, management development, and technical training, the Association continues to support the growth and success of contractors, supervisors, office staff, and apprentices across the Ottawa region.

The Ottawa ECA partners with world-class educators, industry experts, legal professionals, construction specialists, and leading training providers to ensure members receive practical, relevant, and up-to-date instruction that can be immediately applied in the workplace. Courses are delivered by respected professionals with extensive experience in electrical construction, project management, labour relations, safety, technology, and business operations.

Educational programming includes a broad range of topics such as construction law, adjudication and arbitration, project management, estimating, human resources, leadership development, contract administration, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel for Construction, Bluebeam Revu, supervisory training, and communication skills. In addition, the Association continues to provide essential health and safety training including Working at Heights, AED/CPR, Emergency First Aid, and WSIB-certified safety programs.

The Ottawa ECA also maintains a longstanding partnership with BuildForce Canada to provide flexible eLearning opportunities that allow members to complete courses on their own schedule. Online offerings include Construction Project Management, Construction Estimating, Construction Law, Ethics, Conflict Resolution, and First Level Supervisor Training.

In addition to management and professional development training, the Ottawa ECA remains deeply committed to apprenticeship and workforce development. The Association supports one of the region’s most comprehensive electrical apprenticeship systems, combining classroom education with extensive on-the-job training to help develop the next generation of highly skilled electricians.
