CPR & First AID - APRIL 21 & 22, 2026

April 21st & 22nd, 2026 – ECA Ottawa is proud to partner with SP Safety Solutions to provide world-class First Aid & CPR Training. Courses will be held on April 21st & 22nd  from 4:30pm-7:30pm at the OECA office located at 86 Greenfield Ave.

SP Safety Solutions offers WSIB Certified First Aid Training focusing on injuries and materials typically found on construction sites. They also include the role of the Ministry of Labour as it applies to accident scenes and reporting requirements. The goal of first aid is to give a sick or injured worker the best possible care before professional medical attention can be provided. This care should prevent further injury or illness, promote recovery, and reduce severity by providing an immediate and effective response.

To sign up for the course please fill in the following form and click submit. If you need to register more people submit the form and enter again with your company name and the attendees. If members of your staff cannot attend please contact the OECA office, stephanie@ecaottawa.ca, no later than 48 hours  prior to the course.

With over 40 years of hands‑on construction management experience, Lee brings deep industry expertise—she knows construction because she’s built it. A long‑time Gold Seal Committee member and TCIC Chancellor’s Award recipient, she is recognized nationwide as one of Canada’s leading construction educators.

Course Overview:

Subcontracts are increasingly complex and often shift risk onto subcontractors. This workshop teaches you how to understand key contract requirements, identify high‑risk clauses, and protect your business before problems arise. Using practical checklists, templates, and real contract examples, participants build a Subcontract Handbook and learn a green‑amber‑red system for reviewing clauses.

John Killingsworth, Associate Professor of Construction Management at Colorado State University, brings over 16 years of commercial and government contracting experience. His teaching and research focus on construction finance and managerial accounting, and his recent work with ELECTRI‑International developing project‑level cash flow training positions him as a leading expert in helping construction professionals strengthen financial decision‑making and improve project profitability.

 The Venue:

This course focuses on building a deeper understanding of strategic managerial accounting within electrical construction businesses. The one‑day session gives a clear, easy‑to‑understand introduction to managerial accounting for electrical construction businesses. It starts with a review of the financial statements contractors use most—what balance sheets and income statements show and how they support better decisions. Participants then learn key accounting tools like break‑even calculations, profitability and liquidity ratios, and how to choose between equity and debt financing. The course also explains how trade discounts work and how they can help improve cash flow. Overall, the training helps construction leaders strengthen their company’s finances and support long‑term growth.

The primary audience for the course is construction executives, small business owners, and up and coming project managers. Early‑career accountants may also benefit from the industry‑specific context provided.

This webinar focuses on the CAN/ULC-S536: Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems standard, which sets the requirements for the periodic inspection, functional testing, and documentation of fire alarm systems to ensure ongoing reliability and compliance. Injuries from an Arc Flash can be fatal. Preventative measures must be implemented during any work performed on or near energized circuits. Workplace Electrical Safety is a course designed in accordance with OHS Standards – Part 19 and CSA Z462-21 and it is addressed to employees who work on or near electrical assemblies. Our easy-to-use program allows you to obtain an Arc Flash safety training certificate recognized by employers who strive to meet the demands of the legislation.
