First Aid – September 2024

ECA Ottawa is proud to partner with SP Safety Solutions to provide world-class First Aid & CPR Training. Courses take place September 17th and 18th, 2024 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.

SP Safety Solutions offers WSIB Certified First Aid Training focusing on injuries and materials typically found on construction sites. They also include the role of the Ministry of Labour as it applies to accident scenes and reporting requirements. The goal of first aid is to give a sick or injured worker the best possible care before professional medical attention can be provided. This care should prevent further injury or illness, promote recovery, and reduce severity by providing an immediate and effective response.

To sign up for the course please fill in the following form and click submit. If you need to register more people submit the form and enter again with your company name and the attendees. If members of your staff cannot attend please contact the ECA office, stephanie@ecaottawa.ca, no later than 48 hours  prior to the course.

Suderman Estimating

The Suderman Estimating system is Canada’s leading provider of live electrical estimating courses. ECA Ottawa is very pleased to offer our members this world-class program. Over 5,000 people across Canada have taken these courses and they are Gold Seal accredited. The program is delivered in 2 parts over two, 2 -day courses.

Week 1 is scheduled for October 16 & 17, 2024.
Week 2 is scheduled for October 29 & 30, 2024.

Course 1

1 includes the role of the estimator, methods of estimating, estimating tools, pricing, drawing reviews, measuring, forms, fixtures, distribution, material lists, summarizing and the advantages of computerized estimation, among other topics.

Course 2

Course 2 covers a review of estimating fundaments and detailed take offs. It then expands into fire alarms, service and distribution panels, removing existing service, motors and controls,  labour costs, expenses, subcontracts, markup, profit, job closing, extras, vehicle costs, hourly charge out rates, unit pricing scheduled.

Working At Heights

Working At Heights is a training requirement for workers on construction projects who use any of the following methods of fall protection: travel restraint systems, fall restricting systems, fall arrest systems, safety nets and work belts, or safety belts. This training requirement is in the Occupational Health and Safety Awareness and Training Regulation and is in addition to training requirements under the Construction Regulation.

For all employees – You are required to take this training prior to starting any work and renew your certification every 3 years. Training will be provided by the IBEW at their facility. This course is paid for, as are the hours for new and renewal training. Book your training by calling 613-741-5664.

For ECA Ottawa Members – Ensure that workers complete the Working At Heights training program and do not allow their employees to work if they have not completed this training.
