59th Annual GEneral Meeting

ECA Ottawa Chair Johannes Ziebarth hosted our 59th Annual General Meeting. It was a full house at Lago’s Bar and Grill, Dow’s Lake Pavillion on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Members enjoyed a reception followed by a multi- course prime rib dinner. The Board and Committee chairs, along with the Executive Director provided reports on the programs, services and financial status of the Association. It was a huge success and our thanks to special guest speaker, Dan Leduc, partner at law firm Soloway Wright.

2024 ECA Ottawa Golf Tournament

THE 2024 TOURNAMENT IS SOLD OUT  

The 2024 ECA Ottawa Annual Golf Tournament will once again be held at Loch March Golf & Country Club. It is scheduled for Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Kanata, Ontario, Loch March Golf and Country Club stands as a premier destination for golf enthusiasts seeking an unparalleled experience. This meticulously designed 18-hole championship golf course, surrounded by lush greenery and scenic views, offers a challenging yet enjoyable round for players of all skill levels. As one of Ottawa’s premier golf venues, Loch March will once again create an unforgettable experience for all ECA Members and guests. Green fees include: lunch, golf cart, balls, tee’s, prizes and dinner.

Cost: Green Fees are $800.00 plus HST or $225 per individual. 
Registration: Golfers are asked to register onsite starting at 11:00am.
Lunch: BBQ lunch will begin at 11:30am
Tee Time: This tournament will be a scramble format with a shotgun start at 1:00pm.
Dinner: Steak dinner starts at 6:30 with announcements and prizes.

2024 Annual General Meeting

ECA Ottawa hosted its 60th Annual General Meeting on Thursday, February 29th, 2024, at the Mill Street Brewery, 555 Wellington Street. This new venue provided a stunning view, delicious local food and drinks, and a friendly and efficient staff. The evening began with a reception at 5:00pm, allowing members to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones. This was followed by a delightful dinner and reports from the Chairman, Executive Director, and Committee Chair on the Association’s current status.

During the meeting, the membership welcomed the new Board of Directors for 2024-2025, approved the audited financial statements, selected next year’s auditors, endorsed new bylaws, and learned about upcoming strategic plans.

Roch Picknell from Wired Synergy was introduced as the new Chairman of the Board, alongside Vice-Chairman Chris Crawford from C & M Electric, Adam MacArthur from Adam MacArthur Electric, and Johannes Ziebarth from Ziebarth Electrical. The meeting also welcomed new Directors: Scott Winch from Citty Wye’d, Jeff Tremblay from T & M Electric, Audrey Kroon Lowther from Kroon Electric, Bob Brennan from Bradley Kelly, Mark Merriman from BCM Electric, and Yves Laurin from Bright Electric. Congratulations to all the new appointees.

Special thanks were extended to the Nominating Committee members, Chris Crawford, Adam MacArthur, Scott Winch, and Daryl Sharkey, for their efforts.

Xmas Gala A Huge Success

After a 3 year wait, the ECA Ottawa Annual Christmas Gala took place at the historic Fairmont Chateau Laurier Hotel on December 2nd, 2022. The sold out event began with a cocktail reception followed by a 5-course dinner then everyone danced the night away thanks to the exceptional Sway Band. The event was a complete success. ECA Ontario’s AGM 2021

ECA Ontario will be holding its virtual AGM, via Zoom, on Thursday, May 20, 2021 starting at 8:30am. The Zoom details were sent to all ECAO members on Monday, March 22. If you do not receive it, please contact Audrey at aiozelli@ecao.org. If you are unable to attend, please complete and return your Proxy to Daryl Sharkey at daryl@ecaottawa.org by May 14, 2021 or directly tot eh ECA Ontario office to aiozelli@ecao.org. ECA Ontario Conference 2022

2021 Conference Rescheduled to September 2022 –  ECA Ontario’s 2021 Annual Industry Conference in Prague, Czech Republic, has been rescheduled to September 18-24,2022. Prague, capital city of the Czech Republic, is nicknamed “the City of a Hundred Spires.” It’s known for its Old Town Square, the heart of its historic core, with colorful baroque buildings, Gothic churches and the medieval Astronomical Clock, which gives an animated hourly show.

Delegates will stay at the luxurious Mandarin Oriental Prague – itself a piece of history, dating back to the 14th century – you are set to explore this most unique of European cities.  Minutes by foot to the Charles Bridge, built under the auspices of King Charles IV in the 14th century, venture through ancient cobblestone streets.  While you might think Bohemian when you hear Prague, today it is a mixture of Old and New.
